Nepal as a holiday destination is plain fantastic. A kingdom steeped in history and dominated by the majestic Himalayas, it enthrals all who enter. One of the best ways to explore and discover this remarkable land is to get away from the towns and roads and embark on a trekking and rafting adventure – the snows of Kachenjunga feed this less known, but very spectacular tributary of the Sun Kosi, the Tamur River which offers amazing mountain views with an exhilarating river journey! The trek is one of the most spectacular in Nepal, with outstanding views of Kachenjunga, Makalu and Everest. Our amazing team of seventy porters who help carry all our gear into the river is truly a sight to behold. This is an expedition with it all! Arrive Kathmandu, and time to explore this great city!

Not included: Breakfast, lunch and dinner

We’ll have breakfast at our hotel before a short scenic flight from Kathmandu to Biratnagar. After a filling lunch we drive to the bustling market town of Hile and relax there for the night.

Included: Lunch and dinner

Awake to the typical street sounds of a Nepalese market town and enjoy breakfast and then drive to Basantapur. Watch in awe as Nepalese porters clad in flip flops carry 80kg rafts as we begin a spectacular journey to the river through Rhododendron Forests.

Included: All meals

After a hearty Breakfast each morning, our trek takes us over a 10,000ft pass above the sacred lake at Gopa Pokhara rewarding us with stunning views of Kachengunga, Makalu and the majestic Mount Everest. We descend through terraced rice paddies and mountain villages which lead us to the river.

Included: All meals

After a comprehensive safety talk we put on the river and take on some of the most challenging whitewater in Nepal. This river is a whitewater delight with one rapid leading into the next. At camp that evening, enjoy chilling out with your sundowners, as stories are told (and exaggerated) of the day’s rafting.

Included: All meals

Steep canyon walls enclose the river and the rapids are powerful and continuous, many of which are unnamed, perhaps your chance for some fame. As the river opens up we pass by small fishing villages and watch wild monkeys on the river banks. Overnight camp on a beautiful white sandy beach.

Included: All meals

Layover day, and a chance to do exactly what you want. Whether you choose to relax and read or join in on a spot of volleyball or swim, the choice is yours. And what a spectacular setting for it.

Included: All meals

A relaxing day punctuated by some fun whitewater.

Included: All meals

Some phenomenal whitewater action today as towering waves leap skyward, with seemingly endless rapids surging through steep canyon walls, to finally cascade into the Sun Kosi.

Included: All meals

An early rise today with a floating breakfast as we watch the sun rise over the hills. We leave the river at Chatara and fly back to Kathmandu. After settling in to your hotel you will enjoy an evening meal with all your fellow travelers in one of the citiy’s many restaurants.

Included: Breakfast and Lunch

After a leisurely breakfast we take you back to the airport for your flight home.

Included: No meals

Bucket List

4th February 2023

Visited Nepal in October 2022 after delaying our trip for a couple of years due to the pandemic. We loved it – the views from the hike are stunning and the rafting was great fun. Met some lovely people and were safely guided down the river by Stan, Derek, Denesh & co who are a credit to the company. While you’re there I would recommend booking a few extra nights – Kathmandu is awesome too so much to see and do. We probably won’t return to Nepal (too many more places in the world to visit) but this is definitely a bucket list trip.
